Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, a flagship South-South cooperation programme of India, aims to enhance capacity building in other developing countries placed in similar developmental context through sharing of best practices and scientific and technical advancements achieved by India.

2.       Ghana is a major beneficiary of India's ITEC programme and has been allotted 300 training slots this year for various capacity building programmes.  The number of ITEC slots was increased from 200 to 300 during the State Visit of Hon'ble President of India to Ghana in June 2016.

3.       ITEC training programmes are conducted in 47 training institutes in India in diverse fields such as information technology, public administration, entrepreneurship development, management, agricultural research, cyber crime and fluid research etc. 

4.       171 Ghanaian nationals, nominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Republic of Ghana belonging to various government departments have already undergone various training programmes in India during the current year.  108 nominations received from Ghana are under process for courses to be held later this year.  It is expected that all 300 slots allotted to Ghana would be fully utilized during the current financial year.

5.       ITEC programme of the Government of India is fully funded programme wherein the participants are provided return air tickets, gratis visa, accommodation arrangement, basic stipend/living allowance and book allowance.  Ghanaian nationals, who have availed training under ITEC programmes, have been extremely appreciative of the ITEC programme and participate in large numbers in the Annual ITEC Day celebrated every year. Approximately, about 2200 Ghanaian nationals have availed training under various ITEC courses till date.
